You Rock! I'll be receiving your message any minute.

Oh No! We're having an issue. Please try again.

Dear Fashionista, this one’s for you.

I had the privilege of working along side Erin and April, (the masterminds behind Boutiquing.com) this past Saturday. They put together an amazing event that just screamed “ALL THINGS GIRLY!” What these girls did was awesome. They brought together numerous boutiques located all throughout Orange County with one cause in mind. To help save money and to kick in the fall season! Check out this highlight film of the day!

Peacock Feathers + Betsy Johnson = Love

As I searched the internet for wedding inspiration and fabulous ideas I came across one of my new favorite blogs, the Lollipop Blog. I immediately got sucked in to all of their uber awesome’ness and fell in love. Yes, it was as if they wrote every post exclusively for me and my pure enjoyment. I was loving everything that I saw! LOVING IT I TELL YOU! I can honestly say I am obsessed with how the bride incorporated peacock feathers and trendy Betsy Johnson dresses into her wedding. So original and swanky. Check out the photos below taken by Christine Chang Photography. Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts on this look so I don’t feel left out. Go on, rock it. XOXO

And the greatest of these is…

Today is a personal day. There is no need to think on exquisite drapery, silk linens, or gorgeous cascading floral arrangements. No, none of these things need to be mentioned today. Rather, I sit here looking out my window staring at the vast open blue sky. I sit here thinking.  A phrase that keeps echoing in my mind over and over is “..and the greatest of these is love.” “..and the greatest of these is love.” “..and the greatest of these…”

As a child I sat in my mom’s arms and told her how I wanted to be known for my wisdom and my kindness when I grew up. To this day, she reminds me of that when I’m feeling defeated. She encourages me to strive to be better in all that I do. I am not writing this to acknowledge that, in fact, I have attained these attributes. Because to be quite frank, that would be a lie. I look back on my past and am able to replay handfuls of mindless actions certainly not displaying wisdom or kindness. I’m not perfect and nor will I ever be. The only thing that brings me comfort is that each day is a new day. Each day I can choose to get out of bed and do what I do –just better, and with wisdom and kindness.

I have a genuine love for people. When I love, I love. When I forgive, I forgive. I can’t help it, it’s who I am. I believe this is why I love doing what I do so much. I love people and accept them for who they are, whether good or bad, perfect or not.

I am writing this for no one else but myself. I need to be reminded and encouraged that no one is perfect — and on  top of that, simply to just love. If you don’t have love what do you have? Hold tight to love and never let it go.

“Faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

August 27, 2009 - 12:50 pm Celia Orozco - *sigh* I couldn't agree more. Not everyone is perfect, nobody leads a "mistake-free" life, but we learn, grow and accept who we are as we are. That goes for the people we have in our lives as well....

August 27, 2009 - 11:34 am Marissa David - I love this blog Britt.... Miss you lady!! Hope things are going well.. Text me, I would love to have some yummy food with you and the girls!

Utterly Fabulous

What is considered utterly fabulous? Well, I believe that depends on the person – so to be honest, that’s a question that cannot be answered precisely. However, I do know what I THINK is utterly fabulous. Yep, that’s right. I have a whole entire secret list of utterly fabulous things that are waiting to be discovered – or simply put into action for that matter.  Throughout the course of this blog I will divulge what I believe to be utterly fabulous ideas and then you can decide whether to implement these ideas into your event or not. You have to admit, this is a pretty catchy pitch right? Keep following up with the world of Britt Productions and you’ll snag some pretty cool ideas… and if anything, get inspired one way or another. Its as easy as 123, a piece of cake, easy peezy squeezy, simple… ok, you get what I’m saying.

Today on my secret list of utter fab ideas is — wait for it — UMBRELLAS! Pretty fab idea right?! Ok, so it’s been used a few times, so what! It’s still utterly amazing and it totally brings flair to a Southern California wedding. Actually, I take that back. It brings out a pizazz and flair in ANY wedding. It adds color, life, and a vibrant effect to your day as well as your photos and video! AH-MAZING!

Check out the photos below to see the pretty parasols and umbrellas in action. Loving them right? I knew you would. I do too.

Yvette and Juan {Wedding}

A few weekends back I had the opportunity of shooting Juan and Yvette’s wedding down in Los Angeles.

In my opinion, they are a perfect example of the phrase “good things come to those who wait.” Yes, they waited for each other and eventually, they found what they had been looking for. Their One true love. Their soulmate.

Below is a fun picture that Lis from Shea Photography snapped of me while shooting at the Griffith Observatory. Yes, that’s me totally in action ladies and gentlemen.

August 25, 2009 - 9:28 pm Nestor - You have to be the cutest videographer ever!!!

Love amongst the chaos.

As the people were chanting and cheering I was scanning the stadium. I was looking all around me, checking out the different types of people that had come together for one cause; to enjoy the sights, the smells, and the all around atmosphere of participating in a live NFL event.

To my right I spotted a group yelling and raising their fists in anticipation of either team scoring a touchdown. To be honest, they looked a little scary to me. No. I’m lying. They looked reeeeeally scary to me. There was so much going on all around. Some people were fighting and arguing, some laughing, and some indulging in the ever famous garlic fries featured at the Stadium. It was chaos I tell you. PURE CHAOS!

As I quietly sat in my designated seat observing the variety of scenes being played out before my eyes, I spotted a couple amongst the chaos. They were content in there own little world. They were in love. And right before my eyes I watched a story play out, a love story.

He was wrapping the blanket a little tighter around her as the crisp San Francisco breeze blew through. She was snuggling her face on his chest with a look of pure bliss in her eyes. They sat that way for awhile. Laughing, cuddling, and simply enjoying life. At that moment I saw it. It was a small object glistening as in his fingertips as he turned to look her straight in the eyes. What was said at the moment, I will never know. But what it looked like was, “I loved you in the past. I’m in love with you now, and I will love for eternity. Marry me …” Or something utterly romantic like that. They were smiling, kissing, and drinking in the moment of what had just happened. In that mere moment they both had  made a commitment to love each other through the good and the bad, the ups and the downs, and through the chaos of life.

No matter what is going on in this world, I will remember to love the one I’m with and uplift him in all that I do. Yes, life throws us curve balls and we find ourselves busy with the everyday things of life, however, I will not let life take away the love I had when I first met Nestor. We were crazy in love as kids and we are still just as crazy in love 9 years later.

Think back to when you first fell in love and hold on tight to it. Don’t let the chaos stop you.

Bohemian Luxury

If she had been brought up in New York she would have lived on the Upper East Side. She would have spent her summers in the Hampton’s indulging in the finer things in life. Instead, she grew up in Southern California.  She went to private school as a child and attended a University as an adult. She spent her summers in Manhattan Beach and traveling the world. Paris, London, and Copenhagen.

She inherited her fathers ambition, drive, and his sense of business. Yes, she is my total “business savvy” friend, and she’s  a “seller” at heart. What I mean by that is, my dear friend Lauren, has the ability to make anything sound like a dream. And when I say dream, I’m talkin’ she can make any scenario, like “riding your bike up a 4 mile dirt hill to a farm to pick vegetables” sound like a euphoric experience you don’t want to miss out on type of dream. Yep, it’s a little magic trait of hers. She makes every experience sound amazing, whether it be a road trip down to good ole’ Chino Hills or the renovation of her little Cottage in Santa Cruz. This is what makes Lauren who she is. These are the little things that make her a free spirit, fun, with a touch a adorable wackiness.

As mentioned in a previous post, Lauren and her beau Leandro are talking about getting married! She has so many ideas for her wedding and her style is what I like to call “Bohemian Luxury.” She’s that high class, money making, “in the know” kind of gal with a vintage and bohemian twist to her. She loves to thrift shop, scout antique sales, indulge in yard sales, and last but not least, she loves nature and gardening. How the characteristics of high class and vintage go together, I couldn’t tell ya. However, with her they simply just seem to work.

Pulling together a wedding that encompasses everything that Lauren and Leandro are, is going to turn up my creativity a notch or two…or three. I gladly welcome this challenge and say, BRING IT! I can’t wait.

Below is a picture that reminds me of what “Bohemian Luxury” is about. This wedding is elegant and beautiful, yet still contains that natural organic vibe. There are so many different options when designing a “Bohemian Luxury” wedding. Get creative and find that perfect combination of elegance and organic.

“We’re In Heaven” Ft. Laura & Sonny

This wedding was such a blast. The girls were amazing and the guys were just down right fun! I loved getting to know Laura and Sonny and I can honestly say, this wedding was one of my favorites to edit. It’s always easy to edit such fun and vivacious people. They were down to try out any of my ideas and they put on the hat of “Ac-Tor” for me all day! The clip below is of all the girls hanging out prior to the ceremony. Check it ladies and gents. You’ll love it.

They Got It

We sat outside in the warm summer breeze eating, talking business, and getting to know each other a little better. I had met Jesi just a month or so ago and was completely drawn to her. She’s talented, fun, sweet, and totally down to earth. There was just something about her that made me feel comfortable. Plus, I love her work!  I’d describe her as, “elegant yet freaking fresh!” Yeah, I said it, totally freaking fresh. It’s always such an inspiration to sit down with fellow peers in the event industry and simply talk. Pick apart each others brains, listen to stories of past events, and just indulge in each others passions. That’s what we did this afternoon and I loved it.

I can say that I have been blessed to meet some amazing people in the industry and what they bring is more then just “another vendor” to add to my list. They bring inspiration, encouragement, fresh ideas, and to top it off,  friendship. How amazing is that?  They know what’s up and they are talented beyond belief. They got it!

Today I will strive to uplift, bring inspiration, and simply be a friend. We all need a little nudge to get us motivated. What will you do today?

Below is a photo of a few of us at Utterly Engaged’s Launch Party. Yep, we’re just cool like that. It was such a blast to hang out and let loose.

August 24, 2009 - 11:51 am Melody@Sweet&Saucy - Love this photo! Such a fun group!

Dreams and Dads

When growing up with a CPA/Financial adviser for a father, you tend to learn a lot about life and … money. Yes, my father is the CEO of a thriving financial firm, Kalter Financial Group, in Chino Hills, CA. He raised both myself and my brother to be wise. To save for the future. He would sit us down and mentor us on living life to the fullest, which meant saving and planning for the future. He taught us to live up to our potential, to never stop dreaming, and to go after our goals in life. Of course, after his pep talks he would add in “and do these things being financially savvy!!” OK. Fine. I’ll admit it. He did not say “financially savvy” but I like the way that sounds! … Plus, he used a term that means the same thing. You get the picture.

My dad is an amazing man. He’s smart. Actually, he’s a genius. I never grasped just how smart he was until I grew up. I’ll be the first to admit it. I took him for granted when I was little. However, how is a 10 year old suppose to know that her dad’s so smart? He has held the weight of our family on his shoulders through the years, and to be honest, we’re a completely blessed and lucky family. Or as my mother would say, “We’re blessed beyond our years.”

I love my dad more then anything and have a yearning to be just like him. He’s wise, calm, rational, supportive, and loves his family more than anything. These are the things that I strive to posses. I’ll be the first to say it, i will be luckiest girl in the world if I become half the person my father is. Yes, he is simply just that cool.

You are probably sitting here asking yourself “Why on earth are you talking about your dad on your blog?” Well, there is always a purpose and if you must know, this is why…

Everything about my past has shaped me into the woman that I am today. If not for my dad, maybe I wouldn’t feel that the impossible can be made possible? Alas, this thought brings me to “all things weddings.”  For as long as I can remember, I have always loved the idea of the aisle at a ceremony being smothered with rose petals. And when I say “smothered,” I mean every inch of that aisle runner is covered with them! How insanely gorgeous would that be? Breathtaking to be exact. How beautiful to walk on a sea of roses! (and don’t act like you wouldn’t love it either).

I get extreme sometimes when it comes to my ideas, but I tend to think that this is a good thing.  I believe I was lucky enough to have, at least, inherited one of my dad’s traits. Yes, I learned to “go big and dream big” from my dad. In everything he does; whether work, family, or simply in life, he would say “Dream Big.” I have taken this motto and I’m running fast with it! No matter what, just dream big. You can have anything you want, if you will give up the belief that you can’t have it.

Featured below are a few photos taken by Jasmine Star. I am absolutely IN LOVE with what this couple did. Who needs an aisle runner when you can make your own using rose petals?! Love it a million times over … and you do too!
