When growing up with a CPA/Financial adviser for a father, you tend to learn a lot about life and … money. Yes, my father is the CEO of a thriving financial firm, Kalter Financial Group, in Chino Hills, CA. He raised both myself and my brother to be wise. To save for the future. He would sit us down and mentor us on living life to the fullest, which meant saving and planning for the future. He taught us to live up to our potential, to never stop dreaming, and to go after our goals in life. Of course, after his pep talks he would add in “and do these things being financially savvy!!” OK. Fine. I’ll admit it. He did not say “financially savvy” but I like the way that sounds! … Plus, he used a term that means the same thing. You get the picture.
My dad is an amazing man. He’s smart. Actually, he’s a genius. I never grasped just how smart he was until I grew up. I’ll be the first to admit it. I took him for granted when I was little. However, how is a 10 year old suppose to know that her dad’s so smart? He has held the weight of our family on his shoulders through the years, and to be honest, we’re a completely blessed and lucky family. Or as my mother would say, “We’re blessed beyond our years.”
I love my dad more then anything and have a yearning to be just like him. He’s wise, calm, rational, supportive, and loves his family more than anything. These are the things that I strive to posses. I’ll be the first to say it, i will be luckiest girl in the world if I become half the person my father is. Yes, he is simply just that cool.
You are probably sitting here asking yourself “Why on earth are you talking about your dad on your blog?” Well, there is always a purpose and if you must know, this is why…
Everything about my past has shaped me into the woman that I am today. If not for my dad, maybe I wouldn’t feel that the impossible can be made possible? Alas, this thought brings me to “all things weddings.” For as long as I can remember, I have always loved the idea of the aisle at a ceremony being smothered with rose petals. And when I say “smothered,” I mean every inch of that aisle runner is covered with them! How insanely gorgeous would that be? Breathtaking to be exact. How beautiful to walk on a sea of roses! (and don’t act like you wouldn’t love it either).
I get extreme sometimes when it comes to my ideas, but I tend to think that this is a good thing. I believe I was lucky enough to have, at least, inherited one of my dad’s traits. Yes, I learned to “go big and dream big” from my dad. In everything he does; whether work, family, or simply in life, he would say “Dream Big.” I have taken this motto and I’m running fast with it! No matter what, just dream big. You can have anything you want, if you will give up the belief that you can’t have it.
Featured below are a few photos taken by Jasmine Star. I am absolutely IN LOVE with what this couple did. Who needs an aisle runner when you can make your own using rose petals?! Love it a million times over … and you do too!
